Green Bay Southwest High School honored alumna and WNBA star Natisha Hiedeman with a jersey retirement ceremony on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Hiedeman is the first Southwest High School athlete to have a jersey to be retired. It will be on display going forward in the rafters of the gym.
The Southwest High School gym was packed with friends, family and community members to see the unveiling of the jersey and celebrate Hiedeman.
Speakers included Principal Mike Whisler, Athletics and Activities Director Chris Williams, Coach Casey Zakowski (via video), Coach Schneider, Green Bay Area Public School District Family Engagement Coordinator Carrie Rogers, teacher and announcer Andrew Crane and Natisha Hiedeman.
Hiedeman thanked her family, friends, the Southwest community and all her supporters in Green Bay.
“To all who have supported me along the way, you know what the City of Green Bay means to me, and more specifically Green Bay Southwest,” Hiedeman said. “My jersey being retired today is not only an accomplishment to me, but an accomplishment of all of us. I want to thank the school for this amazing honor and I hope that this can inspire other young girls growing up that anything is possible, especially here in little old Green Bay. With that being said ‘go Trojans’ and I will always bleed blue and white.”
Hiedeman was selected No. 18 overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx and traded to the Connecticut Sun in a draft-day trade. She was traded to the Minnesota Lynx in 2024, where she currently plays.
Hiedeman (Class of 2015) was the Green Bay metro area's leading scorer with 1,773 points, and had an average of 25.6 points per game as a senior. She racked up accolades during her high school career earning the following: AP 1st Team All-State honors; FRCC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors; WBCA Division 2 All-State First Team honors; and the WSN Top Senior Shooter award. She ranks second on Green Bay Southwest's all-time scoring list while excelling as a multi-sport athlete. Hiedeman was a nine-time WIAA state qualifier in track and field, she won the state triple jump title in 2014, and qualified for the state tournament in tennis during her senior year.
Hiedeman went on to play college basketball at Marquette University where she earned numerous honors including Unanimous BIG EAST Player of the Year, Unanimous All-BIG EAST First-Team, All-American Honorable Mention Honoree and Nancy Lieberman Award Candidate during the 2018-19 season. She is the third player in Marquette history to be drafted into the WNBA.
