Bridges Construction Celebrates 2026 Home Build

The Green Bay Area Public School District’s Bridges Construction & Renovation program celebrated its students and the progress of its 2026 home build at 158 N. Maple Ave. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The Bridges program, in partnership with NeighborWorks Green Bay, offers students a hands-on learning experience in the construction industry while earning high school and college credit. Students from this year's program attend East, Preble, Southwest and West High Schools.

Students, families, staff and community partners attended a celebration of the students. After the celebration attendees had the chance to tour the two-story home students built from the ground up this school year.

At the celebration, students were recognized and given a toolbelt with basic tools like a hammer and a speed square. Thanks to a generous donation from Bellin Hospital surgeon Dr. James Bailey, students were also given new Milwaukee Tool drill and impact driver sets. DeLeers Construction also provided sweatshirts for all students.

Alex VandeHei of Hendricks Concrete and Noel Halvorsen of NeighborWorks Green Bay, spoke and recognized the importance of the program for developing trades skills, the value of partnering with the Bridges program, and the hard work of the students. Halvorsen noted that this is the 15th home Bridges Construction & Renovation students have completed over the last decade.

Next school year, a new home will be built at 143 Cleveland St. on Green Bay’s westside. Students enrolled for next year represent the following high schools: East, Preble, Southwest and West High Schools.

The Bridges Construction & Renovation program prepares juniors and seniors for employment, future education, and career pathways in architecture, construction, engineering and the military. Upon completion of the one-year Bridges program, students are prepared for an apprenticeship or additional educational opportunities at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) and in-demand careers with high earning potential. 

Beyond skills building, the program provides an opportunity for students to make a positive impact on their community by building and renovating safe, affordable housing.
