AFHK Awards Nearly $1 Million in School Grants

We're so excited to announce that 605 schools across the country received $987,500 in grants for the 2019-2020 school year to improve kids' well-being and help them thrive!

The grants will support educators and parents in implementing or improving health and wellness programs, such as expanding alternative breakfast models, building school gardens, outfitting areas of the school to foster physical activity and playtime, and so much more.

A crucial part of our mission to address complex childhood health challenges, grants bring together educators, parents, organizations and communities to transform school into a place where children are healthy, active, and ready to learn.

We’re grateful to our sponsors for supporting this part of our mission: Game On grants for physical activity and nutrition initiatives are sponsored by Cargill, CSX, GoGo squeeZ, Kellogg Company Fund, and Saputo; Game On: BE Time grants for unstructured time to support social and emotional growth are sponsored by GoGo squeeZ; school breakfast grants are sponsored by Walmart Foundation; and Parents for Healthy Kids grants to engage parents in supporting healthy behaviors are sponsored by ALDI.

Congratulations to all the recipients! We can’t wait to see the impact your programs will have this year.
