Service and Special Interests Clubs

Art Club is a social club that meets once a week in the art room. During this weekly meeting, students hang out with other kids who have similar interests, share drawings, work on projects, fund raise for field trips, and occasionally participate in contests or group projects like a school mural. Meetings are weekly all year.

We try to educate and bring awareness to the large variety of Asian ethnic groups. We also have created a social network of the Asian students and their allies within our school. Meetings are often weekly, but there are occasional schedule changes. During the 19-20 school year, meetings are Tuesdays from 3:00 to 4:30 followed by the free dinner together at SW.

From our solar system to the unending space of the universe, there are many mysteries to discover.  Want to learn more, want to find out what hides in this infinite void? Want to do hands-on activities and have fun learning about what's past this pale blue dot we call home?  Join Astronomy Club, a student-run club that talks about everything relating to space!  We meet in room 2410 on the first Wednesday of each month after school and the 3rd Friday during advisory!  Everyone is welcome to join!

The SW Black Culture Club is a student-led community that celebrates Black culture and heritage while creating space for students to lead, connect, and grow. Our mission is clear: Empower. Inspire. Connect. Advocate. Through cultural events, service projects, and leadership opportunities, we honor history, build unity, and uplift student voices. 

 This club recognizes high-achieving students who excel in business education and demonstrate leadership and integrity. To join, members must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA in three or more business courses and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Members also commit to completing a service project that promotes community involvement and professional growth. The club provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, build networks, and celebrate academic excellence in business.

The Southwest Climbing Team takes you on a journey of strength, balance, and focus. We climb walls, tackle new routes, and celebrate every goal we reach. Join us and discover the thrill of reaching the top!  

Community Club is made up of Special Ed ID and Autism Focus students. Our group sells cookies, coffee and handmade beaded keychains and pens to fund the needs for our classrooms and field trips. It is a great way for our students to engage with other students while they are selling items. 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is open to all students wishing to meet, interact, and explore their Christian faith with their peers. The purpose is to join together for treats, fun and games, singing, and discussing together how our Christian faith impacts our own lives.  A few short readings, bible verses, and questions are discussed, and we also close with a prayer.  Meetings last 60-90 minutes.  All are welcome. Meetings are twice monthly, on Sunday nights, throughout the school year.

The FEA exposes students to the teaching profession by immersing them in the classroom setting as well as the surrounding teaching institutions:  UWGB, NWTC, and St. Norbert University.  Through guest speakers, classroom observations, and field trips, students begin to lay a foundation from which to build their career.  Students interested in any and all levels of education are welcome to attend. Meetings are every 3rd Thursday of the month but are adjusted accordingly to align with the schedule of the school year.

First Scholars Wisconsin is a student organization that helps our multilingual (ML) community at Southwest. Our mission is to support the ML department and its students to feel more welcomed at their school. We have bi-weekly meetings during Flex periods.

Fox River Monitoring is a club for students interested in science and nature. In partnership with UW- Green Bay, we go out three times a year, spring, summer, and fall, and monitor stream water quality. We have two stream sites near Southwest that we drive to and complete water quality tests and collect water samples.  Then, we come back to Southwest and test the samples we’ve collected in the laboratory.

We test streamflow, turbidity, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen levels, nitrate levels, ammonia levels, and phosphorus levels.  In the summer, we also collect data on the stream’s biodiversity levels.

In March, we have a full day field trip and we attend a Water Symposium at UWGB.  We get to see a variety of presentations and we present the data we’ve collected.  We also get a tour of some part of the campus and participate in a quiz bowl.

We also grow wild rice in the classroom/greenhouse and have a half day field trip in May to plant our wild rice in Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve to help restore native populations of the species. Students are able to earn service learning hours for their work.

GSA at Southwest is a club that provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. The purpose is to provide a supportive environment for our students to socialize, receive support, and organize around issues that affect them. Research shows that GSAs in schools can positively impact the academic, health, and social experiences of LGBTQ+ students and improve the overall school climate. We welcome any Southwest student to join GSA at any point throughout the school year! 

The Hispanic Culture Club was formed for students to bring awareness to the different hispanic cultures in school and in turn learn more about other cultures present at Southwest.  We hope that through collaboration with all students and clubs we can learn more about each other and bring about a sense of respect, acceptance and appreciation that recognizes the value of culture, stories and experiences that beautify and strengthen our school and community.

The Southwest Key Club organizes and takes action in various volunteer opportunities both within our school and in the community. We enjoy helping students explore how to get involved to enhance our school environment and surrounding areas. Students work diligently to involve themselves in activities that give back.

During the winter off-season, we meet everyday after school from 3:15-4:15. We work on strength, speed and explosiveness. We focus on plyometrics work. As long as the track is clear and above 30 degrees we will go outside. 

Our mission is to spread hope, help, and strength in every corner of our community, and to help students and staff turn to their strengths and their supports that are all around.  We are connectors to help and strength.

Spanish club is a club that meets every other week throughout the school year to learn more about the Spanish culture.  The group's members decide on cultural activities that may include cooking, movie nights, craft projects and holiday celebrations. Meetings are every other week all year.

Green Bay Southwest High School STINGCANCER is a passionate and committed collaboration of high school students and staff dedicated to reducing the effects of cancer by initiating and supporting programs and activities for the school and its surrounding community. Meetings are twice a month during the school year (with additional meeting dates if necessary to plan bigger events). Events can run during the school day or after school hours (example: StingCancer basketball games or StingCancer Spaghetti Dinner).

Tabletop Trojans is Southwest High School's club for tabletop roleplaying games. While we do focus on Dungeons and Dragons, we do have access to other games. We provide an introduction for new players and resources for experienced players, so all are welcome!

Trees for Tomorrow is an outdoor education experience offered in April or May each year.

Selected students (8 girls and 8 boys) spend three and a half days at the Trees for Tomorrow campus in Eagle River, WI learning about natural resources and their management.  Participants learn about water, land, timber, and wildlife management, pollution prevention and control, environmental testing, and recreational land use.  Procter & Gamble sponsors this unique experience and there is no cost for students to attend. This is a once a year event in April or May for 3-4 days.
